除夕夜 2013

The night before the first day of cny, we had a reunion dinner with dad's side of the family as usual. We normally go to a chinese restaurant and have a typical 10 course dinner but this time dad wanted to "try something different" and we ended up having dinner in a western restaurant. The chef is a hongkee so we had sort of a custom dinner menu with sort of a fusion between western and chinese. There was so many dishes we were so stuffed even before we we halfway done haha.

It was pretty good albeit different from the usual chinese dinner. One good thing was being able to be in a comfortable atmosphere because typically a chinese restaurant would be so full and noisy and warm resulting in a sweaty mess, instead we almost got the entire restaurant to ourselves :3

This beat any prawn dishes in a typical cny dinner because I DON'T HAVE TO PEEL THEM.

What's a chinese dinner without fish! Though I would much prefer a steamed one.

  1. Usually, for lunar new year my family gathers at my great aunt and uncles place for a mass gathering where the adults just drink and eat all night - nothing as special as a 10 course dinner which looks absolutely delicious.

  2. All that food! It's interesting that you were able to have a fusion sort of menu, as well as being able have Yee Sang in a Western restaurant!
